FIDC’s new energy audit service was successfully launched earlier this month.
An energy audit is an inspection survey that enables the full picture of a building’s energy use to be better understood, allowing for inefficiencies to be identified.
Former FIDC Rural Energy Advisor Andrew Crighton was contracted as an energy consultant to deliver the free service for Falklands businesses on behalf of FIDC. Andrew had a packed two-week programme carrying out site visits to many local businesses; working with them so that he can provide advice on how they can lower their energy usage and associated costs.
Andrew will be providing reports to the businesses that signed up to the service which will see him give advice on changes to working practices that could be implemented to reduce energy usage as well as recommendations for potential future energy investments.
The service was developed following feedback from businesses and it is envisaged that it will be a key part of a future ‘Green Business Programme’ to be implemented by FIDC.
FIDC were pleased to welcome Andrew back to the Islands to carry out this service which is hoped will be of lasting benefit to the businesses that signed up to it.
